Accessible Parking Zones

Background

On January 24, 2017 the Los Angeles City Council adopted the Phase 1 Program for Accessible Parking Zones (APZ).   The Phase 1 Program generally restricts the placement of APZs to corner locations to serve the entire block.

Residents and businesses may submit a request for an APZ investigation for corner locations. City Departments will review these locations for feasibility pursuant to Federal and State accessibility guidelines.  Federal and State guidelines require APZs to be accessible to mobility devices such as wheelchairs.  Attached is a fact sheet regarding some APZ placement guidelines.

If you are interested in receiving an application please contact the Department on Disability, Accessible Parking Zone Request Line at 213-202-2685.
