Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) program?

The DME program works to bridge the mobility gap and provide access to the durable medical equipment needed to assist people in their daily living or in their recovery from an illness or injury. There are many people living in Los Angeles who are elderly, have physical limitations, or who have become disabled due to illness or injury that have limited or no access to wheelchairs, walkers, or other durable medical equipment that they need to assist in their daily lives. The gift of a wheelchair, cane, or walker can make a huge difference in someone’s life if it enables them to participate in activities with family and their community once again.
