Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA"), the City of Los Angeles will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.

Employment: The City of Los Angeles does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.

Effective Communication: The City will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the City’s programs, services, and activities. These may include sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other methods that make information and communications accessible to people with speech, hearing, or vision disabilities.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures: The City of Los Angeles will make reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to all programs, services, and activities. For example, service animals are welcome in City facilities, even where pets are generally prohibited.

Anyone who requires materials in alternative formats, auxiliary aids or services, or modifications to policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the City of Los Angeles, should submit the request through the MyLA311 Disability Related Modification or Accommodation service request topic or contact the Department on Disability at (213) 202-2764 or dod.contact@lacity.org as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.

The ADA does not require the City of Los Angeles to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of a program or service, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

Complaints that a City program, service, or activity is not accessible to persons with disabilities should be directed to the MyLA311 ADA/Accessibility/Disability Complaints service request topic or the ADA Compliance Officer. To view the City’s full ADA Grievance Procedure, visit the ADA Title II Grievance Policy and Procedure page or follow the procedures above to request it in an alternative format.

The City of Los Angeles will not place a surcharge on individuals with disabilities or groups of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids, services, or reasonable modifications to policies.
