Disability Access and Services Division (DASD)

DASD coordinates and monitors the City's compliance with ADA and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504). Access Coordinators work closely with all City departments to facilitate the process, which includes:

  • Providing reasonable accommodation for City employees.
  • Providing reasonable accommodation to people who use City programs and facilities.

Accessible Parking Zones

On January 24, 2017 the Los Angeles City Council adopted the Phase 1 Program for Accessible Parking Zone's (APZ's).   The Phase 1 Program generally restricts the placement of APZ’s to corner locations to serve the entire block.  Any necessary improvements to the selected corner will be included in the City’s Sidewalk Repair Program for design and construction.  City Departments involved in this program will report back to the City Council in six months on Phase 1 regarding eligibility, feasibility, prioritization and construction costs for APZ's.

Residents and businesses may submit a request for an APZ investigation for corner locations. City Departments will review these locations for feasibility pursuant to Federal and State accessibility guidelines.  Federal and State guidelines require APZ’s to be accessible to mobility devices such as wheelchairs.  Attached is a Fact Sheet regarding some APZ's placement guidelines.

If you are interested in receiving an application please contact the Department on Disability, Accessible Parking Zone Request Line at 213-202-2685.
