Fairy Butterfly, 2023
Paint, Marker, and Acrylic on Paper 12” x 18”
A pink and purple butterfly with black accents floats in the center of the page, with spread wings, impacting the surrounding areas. These areas, red and covered with dots of white, yellow, green, blue, and pink, are so variously and densely filled with dots that they seem to create granular shapes. The butterfly, lined in white, is both embedded in these surrounding areas while standing apart from them.

The Knight Comes To Rescue, 2023
Color Pencil on Paper 30” x 24”
Riding on a white horse the armored knight holds a jousting stick across his body. He wears a cape, boots and ornamental helmet. He is about to slay a winged dragon beast–green with yellow underside and a red crest on head–which lies beneath the horse while twisting upward to face the knight. In the distance appears a man in a silver gown and crown praying in front of a small church. A lush green landscape and blue sky complete the background. This image resembles a portrayal from the middle ages of St. George slaying the Dragon.

Getty Villa Inner Peristyle, 2023
Color Pencil and Marker on Paper 24” x 30”
This is a representation of the courtyard at the Getty Villa, with its gardens and surrounding buildings with pillars. The scene is rendered with symmetry and precision. The columns recede down each side in perspective and flank the courtyard with grand architecture and windows. In the center of the courtyard sits the fountain with its blue pool, bounded by walkways, benches, and areas of grass, shrubbery and flowers.

Flowers, 2023
Watercolor and Pen on Paper
An abstract floral explosion done with watercolor. Organic shapes and bright colors interlock to create a loose and vibrant structure. The outer areas consist of deep purple and black hues and then, moving to the center, warm up to red, oranges and pinks. Heavier lines of black pen are set within key areas of the colored forms, outlining the shapes of ornate flowers.

Captain Hook’s Sailing Ship Columbia, 2023
Acrylic on Paper 18” x 24”
In the center of this painting, with its muted colors, amid a deep blue-green sea and turquoise sky, sits an old sailing ship. It has three masts with nets and ropes up each and a flag on the center. The hull of the ship has holes for canons and windows in the bow. It is painted a rich red and wooden shades of brown and appears to us in profile, sailing from left to right, through the picture plane and across the sea.

Horror Scary, 2019
Colored Pencil on Paper 24” x 18”
This image, stylized and rendered in smooth and saturated colored pencil, features the profile of a figure, eyes closed, mouth open, skin banded with crooked red markings, long snake-like hair, facing the rest of the scene: a broad, patterned plane, with mountains on the horizon, and a large yellow sun that radiates red bolts through a calm blue sky.

Untitled (Red Black Shapes), 2022
Acrylic on Paper 24” x 18”
An abstract image filled with geometric clusters and repeating dash-like marks. The colors–brown, red, yellow, black–give the impression of autumn, or a nocturnal warmth, while the shapes that comprise the composition organize it with the structure of a grid and appear as a crowded and simplified assembly of windowed architecture.

Dog, 2021
Acrylic and Paint Marker on Paper 24” x 30”
A stylized dog thickly painted in brown, tan, and magenta strokes, with multiple areas outlined in a relatively thin and consistent line of yellow and pink paint pen. The green background has been similarly treated, with thick passages and lined strokes, giving the image both a looseness and delineation, movement and stability.

Near The River, 2022
Acrylic on Paper 24” x 30”
An acrylic painting of an idyllic scene of birds that hover in a soft blue sky, houses dot the tops of paint-daubed mountains, a deep blue body of water ripples with multicolored bands, while in the foreground, a woman traverses an earthy yellow mound and a tree stands tall through the center of scene, tying it all together.

Untitled, 2019
Marker and Pastel and Colored Pencil on Paper 24” x 30”
A representation and an abstraction of two hands in a kinetic description of line, tonality, and color. The big hands, which fill the picture plane, are close together, palms revealed, with shapes of pale blue that seem to be emanating from the space between the hands, over the hands, that seem to form a shape by themselves, symmetrical and formed of light.
