Fourteenth Annual Disability Art Exhibition (2021)
Los Angeles Department on Disability in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs Presents the Fourteenth Annual Disability Art Exhibition.
Disability is a lived reality for many Angelenos, as many as 20 percent (PDF document) of the adult population and 14 percent of students live with one or multiple disabilities. Disability Awareness Month in October acknowledges people with disabilities as a diverse group, some born with a disability and others acquiring a disability later in life due to an injury or illness. Disabilities include a wide range of visible and invisible health and functional limitations that can present significant challenges to daily life activities, such as low vision and blindness, hard of hearing, deafness, cognitive, or mobility.
The Department on Disability is privileged to showcase disabled artists and the organizations that support the artistic talents and abilities of children and adults with disabilities. We seek to promote access to artistic expression for those within the disability community by exhibiting their artwork.
This exhibition was made possible through partnerships with the Academy of Special Dreams, Braille Institute of America, Exceptional Children’s Foundation, and Tierra del Sol Foundation, whose work empowers people with disabilities to fulfill their potential as productive and valued Angelenos.
